Tala is a young British lighting brand with a mission to create exquisite products that have a positive impact on their surroundings. The company was founded by four friends at Edinburgh University who shared a passion for design, technology and sustainability. During a project with solar panels on a hotel roof, the four friends agreed that the light source could be further optimised with LED and the idea for their bulbs was born.
Tala produces LED bulbs like you've never seen them before! Each with different and alluring expressions that can completely change the character of your lamp! In addition to exciting light bulbs and lamps, Tala has launched a range of table lamp and ceiling lamp holders in oak, walnut and copper finishes. These lamps are beautiful on their own, but combined with the beautiful bulbs, you have a complete and stunning Tala lamp!

The Tala Classic collection was conceived to emulate the classic Edison bulb from the 1870s. The bulbs have the same timeless design and warm colour, but with a more technologically advanced and environmentally friendly light. They are also built to last for years to come. The collection is designed to cover a wide range of general and decorative lighting needs. The bulbs have beautiful iconic shapes that emit a cosy light and can be used both on their own in a socket or in a lamp.
The Voronoi collection consists of bulbs with highly sculptural shapes that take inspiration from the patterns found in nature. The organic shapes are derived from voronoi patterns found in the forest and throughout nature. The design collection is mouth-blown bulbs moulded by nature. A rounded and compact bulb that, with its shape and uniform filament, offers a multitude of perspectives depending on the angle you look at it from.
The Feature collection is created with the mission that "lighting is an experience". This is done by challenging the notion that a light bulb is just a light source to provide light in a lamp. A whole range of bulbs in distinctive shapes combined with intricate LED filaments make Feature a truly unique collection of decorative light sources. Each bulb is also carefully calibrated to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Fixtures is a range of sockets made of materials known for their durable and flexible properties. From FSC-certified, pure American oak and walnut to recycled materials, Tala works with only the finest natural resources available. They are also designed to utilise the wide range of bulbs in the Tala range. All come with a three-metre black fabric cord made from a silicone designed to minimise kinks on the cord. Use the Fixtures mounts together with a decorative Tala bulb - a simple solution that creates an almost artistic lamp.
For a hotel project in Porto to install solar panels, they suggested LED lighting to further reduce the hotel's energy consumption. The architect's complaint about the clunky design inspired the four designers to further develop the latest technology and manufacturing processes to see how far the design limits of the lamp could be pushed. And so the world's first beautiful, sustainable light bulb was born.
In addition to implementing the latest energy-saving technology, they master materials and techniques that have minimal impact on the environment and strive for a transparent, carbon-neutral supply chain. This makes it possible to develop bulbs that are manufactured to last 10 years or more. Every element of the design has been chosen to create a modern and welcoming atmosphere in any interior. The Tala bulb is manufactured with an emphasis on technology and quality components and an uncompromising focus on both design and sustainability, which makes Tala bulbs unique.
Since the start of the company, the Ten Trees programme was created as a commitment to plant 10 trees for every 200 products sold. Although the products are fundamentally sustainable, Tala wants to ensure that the business as a whole is carbon neutral. The UK has less than a third of its original forest compared to many other European countries. Tala has therefore partnered with The Heart of England Forest to build and protect a large new unbroken area of forest in the centre of England. They set their first goal to plant 35,000 trees by April 2018.
In the US, they have partnered with the National Forest Foundation to restore ecosystems across the country. Among other things, they have helped plant 5,000 trees in the wildfire-ravaged Ochoco National Forest in Oregon. Tala believes in responsible entrepreneurship, which is why Ten Trees is embedded at the core of the company. Their goal is to expand the programme in areas that have the greatest need to leave thriving forests for future generations.
