The PH Artichoke Ø480 LED Bluetooth (Dim-to-Warm) Brass was designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958. He was commissioned to design a pendant lamp for the Langelinie Pavilion restaurant in Copenhagen, with a specific desire for it to be 100% glare-free. His ingenious solution, with 72 leaves in 12 straight rows, provides a totally glare-free light, no matter what angle you look at it from. Today, the pendant lamp is considered a design icon that is loved and recognised all over the world, while it still adorns the Pavilion in Copenhagen. The PH Artichoke has also been nicknamed 'The Cone' due to its distinctive appearance.
The lamp is a great example of Poul Henningsen's visionary approach to design, focusing on the importance of light for the environment and a sense of beautiful aesthetics. Despite being more than 60 years old, the pendant lamp hasn't lost any of its lustre. With its sculptural appearance and cosy light, combined with an increased interest in Danish design classics, the lamp is definitely relevant in today's modern interior design.
Today, the lamp is available in different sizes with diameters ranging from 48 to 84 centimetres, as well as several different colours - See the full range of PH Artichoke pendant lights here
