Doo-Wop is a re-launch of the Navy pendant from the 1950s. Doo-Wop is an informal and simple pendant that can serve multiple purposes. It is harmonic in its design and incredibly well-suited for use on its own, in a row, or as part of a cluster. Doo-Wop creates life in your living room, dining room, kitchen, home office, child’s room, hallway, stairwell, bedroom—in short, it can be a breath of fresh air and great lighting in every room of the house.
As mentioned, Doo-Wop is an old familiar that has been reintroduced. Doo-Wop was drawn up for the buildings used by the navy in the late 50s and was found in canteens, offices, hallways and many other places. For that reason, the pendant was then known as the Navy Pendant.
Doo-Wop stayed in the Louis Poulsen product range until the early 80s when it fell out of production. Since then the lamps have been popular in antique shops and at auction, which led to the reintroduction of the product in a youthful version using modern colours.
The pendant compliments the existing multi-screen lamps in the Louis Poulsen collection in the best way and is a particularly a good fit for the brand’s lighting philosophy. The light is delivered exactly as the shape promises, which means that the lamp doesn’t have any details that don’t contribute to its light-related value.
In short, Doo-Wop emits a comfortable light that is primarily downward-facing, but also contributes to the atmosphere in the room. Recommended for living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, offices, children’s rooms, hallways, stairwells and bedrooms.
Please note that the steel, copper and brass versions of Doo Wop are untreated and will develop patina over time.
