Tom Dixon

Born: 1959.\ Famous works: Beat Light lamp, Melt lamp, Etch lamp and Void lamp.\ Education: Self-taught designer.

Tom Dixon was thrust into the limelight in the mid-1980s and became known as a talented, self-taught designer with a line of furniture that could arguably be described as an exciting interweaving of recycling. He helped create an environment for young designers that helped establish his capabilities.

Already in the late 1980s, Tom Dixon designed the iconic 'S' chair for Italian Cappellini.\ By 2002, his brand was strong enough to establish his own label under the name Tom Dixon based in London. New lamp, furniture and accessory collections are launched twice a year and the brand is internationally recognised with sales in 65 countries.

Black and white portrait of a man in a suit standing at a modern mirror with a reflective background. He has a serious and focused expression.
