Santa & Cole Lamps
Modernity and functionality are combined with an urban approach to design when Santa & Cole create lights. The handmade lamps are characterised by high quality and aesthetic simplicity and are perfect for Nordic interiors, where function, cosy lighting and natural materials get a lot of attention. Since 1985, Santa & Cole have been designing and manufacturing their own products. Their design studio, office and warehouse has its roots in Barcelona, Spain, where in the early days they created extraordinary lighting for the most famous bars, which later led to lighting private homes.
Create, utilise and disseminate knowledge about "good design"
Santa & Cole's work spans many areas. You can therefore also find Santa & Cole books, furniture such as sofas, armchairs, tables and chairs, cushions, shelves and not least lighting for both indoor and outdoor use. In addition, Santa & Cole supplies non-profit elements for the public sector: street lighting, bike racks and waste bins. They manufacture furniture for large industrial customers and office furniture for public authorities and institutions.
Santa & Cole describes itself as a knowledge industry and endeavours to create, protect and spread their knowledge of 'good design'. This is achieved through products that are characterised by aesthetic simplicity, good design, functionality and high quality. These characteristics are present regardless of the work area and are clearly visible in their lamp designs.
Their design is characterised by a modern expression that stands out from the crowd of lamps. They are also easily recognisable due to their distinctive shapes and choice of materials. Their approach to design is characterised by an attention to everyday objects - found objects, designed and redesigned objects, and considerations around their user experience.
Andrea Branzi
Architect and designer Andrea Branzi was born in Florence in 1938, where he graduated in 1967.
From 1964 to 1974 he was part of the Archizoom Associati group, the first internationally known avant-garde whose projects are now preserved at the Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione of Parma University in Paris.
Since 1967 he has been working with industrial and experimental design, architecture, urban planning, where Rotaliana lamps are one of many. He teaches industrial design at the Politecnico di Milano.
